    [Verse 1]
Hands pressed tight, I whisper my prayer
Lord, let Your will for me be done
Your quiet peace meets the breaking dawn
Though I don’t know what may come
    [Pre-Chorus]
Meet my doubt where faith begins
Shape the heart that lives within
    [Chorus]
Father, let Your will be done
Even when I can’t see far
When morning light breaks through the silence
Faith begins in unclenched hands, right where You are
    [Verse 2]
These tightened hands are loosening now
    Your whisper moves the atmosphere
Each breath I follow where You lead
Your faithful love steadies me here
    [Pre-Chorus]
Meet my doubt where faith begins
Reveal the joy You placed within
    [Chorus]
Father, let Your will be done
Even when I can’t see far
When morning light breaks through the silence
Faith begins in unclenched hands, right where You are
    Right where You are
    [Instrumental Break]
    [Bridge]
Open palms, You rebuild my heart
As in heaven, let Your will draw near
All I gripped is falling apart
    Let surrender find me here
Lord, fill me with Your Spirit
    Fold me into Your design
Lift my soul, ignite a fire within it
Let Your perfect will be mine
    [Final Chorus]
Father, let Your will be done
Even when I can’t see far
When morning light breaks through the silence
Faith begins in unclenched hands, right where You are…
Father, let Your will be done
Even when I can’t see far
When morning light breaks through the silence
Faith begins in unclenched hands, right where You are
    [Tag / Outro]
Where faith begins, the silence clears
Hope rises strong beyond my fears
Where faith begins, Your work’s begun
Let Your will be done… Your will be done

    The Outside

    Folk/Acoustic
    3:45
    Score: 92%

A song inspired by a poem written in 1938 by a 22 year-old during the early days of his relationship with a young woman. This song explores love navigating tradition, belief, and unseen barriers, proving that even when held at a distance, love endures!

    Lyrics

More behind the poem: The “wall” in the song serves as a symbol for the emotional barriers, doubts, and social pressures that can separate us from those we care about most. Yet running beneath the restraint and longing is a quiet strength, a refusal to give in, and a belief that love can endure even when the odds feel heavy.
Bert and Kay would go on to marry and raise seven children. I am their youngest son. The Outside is a bridge between past and present, a son giving voice to his father’s young heart, and a reminder that the desire to connect, to belong, and to be understood remains one of our most human traits.

    The Outside
Inspired from a poem written by Berton Fillhart Sept. 23, 1938
Lyrics by Ted Fillhart & Berton Fillhart
    [Verse 1]
I wait where their eyes don’t follow
While the bells ring soft and slow
You stand between your world and mine
Behind a wall others have come to know
    [Chorus]
The wall I face is ever so thin
Though the weight of their silence is great
What the heart has set out to win
I will not give in, I will not break
    Verse 2
The fall air cools, I walk you home
    Doors close softer than before
I hold my words the whole way back
We feel the weight but reach for more
    [Chorus]
The wall I face is ever so thin
Though the weight of their silence is great
What the heart has set out to win
I will not give in, I will not break
    [Lead Break ]
    [Verse 3]
If they could see me as I am
    Beyond the lines they believe
This wall would fall beneath their doubts
With you, my love, I’ll never leave
    [Chorus]
The wall I face is ever so thin
Though the weight of their silence is great
What the heart has set out to win
I will not give in, I will not break

The wall I face is wearing thin
I’ve fought the odds, I’ve held the line
The strength within won’t let me bend
I will not give in, this hope is mine

A heartfelt, classic-country ballad about heartache, distance, and the pull of home. It follows a man separated from the woman he loves, aching with longing and driven by the hope of returning to where his heart truly belongs.

    Lyrics

    Waiting In Oklahoma
    ©2025 Ted Fillhart

    [Verse 1]
Her life’s in Stillwater where the red dirt meets the sky,
Her heart’s a steady beacon, like the stars that never lie.
I’m stuck here in Little Rock where the river winds its way,
And the miles between us feel like a lifetime and a day.

    [Chorus]
Some say love strengthens when two are apart
But that's a lie you tell a lonely heart
With every Arkansas sunset, the pain starts to soar.
She’s waiting in Oklahoma , I’m missin' her more and more.

    [Verse 2]
I’d lay down this long, hard trail just to hold her hand,
Leave the life I once chased, not as grand as I planned.
Her love steadies this heart that was drifting too free,
I’m bound for the place where she’s still waiting on me.

    [Chorus]
Some say love strengthens when two are apart
But that's a lie you tell a lonely heart
With every Arkansas sunset, the pain starts to soar.
She’s waiting in Oklahoma, I’m missin' her more and more.
    [Guitar Lead Break]
    [Verse 3]
Southern pines line the highway on my way back to you,
The mileposts mocking me, but I know I'll make it through.
The static cuts through recalling things I did wrong
The distance slowly fading, reminds me where I belong

    [Final Chorus / Tag]
Some say love strengthens when two are apart
But that's a lie you tell a lonely heart
With every Arkansas sunset, the pain starts to soar,
She’s waiting in Oklahoma, I’m missin’ her more and more.
She’s waiting in Oklahoma, calling me back home…
    She’s waiting in Oklahoma…
And I’m on my way back home.

    [Verse 1]
With a heavy heart he walks through the door
Boots dragging slow ’cross the old barroom floor
Denim all faded, like the years he’s known
Takes his place at the bar, a place he calls home

    [Verse 2]
His jacket’s worn, like the lines on his face
Each scar tells a story time won’t erase
Glass ain’t full, but it’s all he’s got tonight
Haunted by memories that still grip him tight]

    [Chorus]
He’s caught in the quiet as the night moves along
Where the barstool waits and the hours drag on
A lonesome man with nowhere left to roam
Searching for something that feels like home

    [Instrumental Lead Break]
    [Verse]
Long ago she left with a suitcase and tears
Took all the laughter and left behind years
The mirror behind him still shows who he was
He don’t say much, ’cause the pain always does

    [Final Choruses]

    TRACES OF YESTERDAY
    © 2026 Ted Fillhart
    Verse 1
Summer day cruisin’ in my dusty 4x4
Rockin’ with Hank as we head to the shore
Late night movies that we never saw through
Every stolen touch felt like something new
    Verse 2
Looking back, I see our time went by fast
Windows down, we lived like it would last
Fall hurried in, those runnin’ days turned gray
Silent rides home as our eyes looked away
    Chorus
Drove to the future, rear view of goodbyes
Those tears I tried to hide behind my eyes
Hands gripped the wheel as love slipped away
Now I’m left with traces of yesterday
    Verse 3
Still got a photo of you, faded and worn
A few old love letters folded and torn
That easy smile of yours, one of a kind
That summer spark still flickers in my mind
    Chorus
Drove to the future, rear view of goodbyes
Those tears I tried to hide behind my eyes
Hands gripped the wheel as love slipped away
Now I’m left with traces of yesterday
    (Instrumental Break)
    Bridge
Took a drive along that quiet lakeside road
Past the Skyway Drive-In, I thought of you
So many years gone since our summer days
Pine in the air pulled me back there too
    Chorus
Drove to the future, rear view of goodbyes
Those tears I tried to hide behind my eyes
Hands gripped the wheel as love slipped away
    Now I’m left with traces…

    Lyrics

    [Verse 1]
Sticky floors in a roadside dive
    Busted neon just barely alive
    Barstools wobblin’, bracin’ for impact
Ladies crowd the stage; egos are stacked

    Off-key heroes stealin’ the show
Everybody knows; we all hear the call
The night’s just startin’; it’s a karaoke brawl
    [Chorus]
Karaoke brawl, when the ladies take the stage
Shania wannabes, competing in a rage
One strained “Gonna Getcha Good” way off key
Another garbles “The Woman In Me”

One good swing, this night goes soarin’

    [Verse 2]

Hair-flip diva, straight from the bar
    Brunette mama screamin’ real loud
Slurs “Any Man Of Mine” to the crowd
Crop-top cowgirl won’t let it slide
Flaunting her looks, tryin’ to steal the ride
Every song from Twain; no one’s concedin’
Nashville dreaming, more like a Walmart meetin’

That half-smile said you owned the room
I couldn’t resist, had to try

We talked while the night slipped by
Our hands brushed, I couldn’t steady mine
