AI Song Feedback That Actually Listens

Why most AI song feedback is useless

You can paste your lyrics into a chatbot. Here is what you get back.

    It can't hear your song

ChatGPT reads what you type. It guesses tempo, key and loudness from your description, not from the recording.

    It tells everyone they're great

Gemini can hear audio, but it scores nearly everything between 75 and 90. When every song is good, the score means nothing.

The score changes when the song didn't

Ask a general chatbot twice and you can get two different scores. You can't measure a revision against a moving target.

Song Refiners was built to fix all three. It hears the song, it tells you the truth, and it holds the same standard every time you resubmit.

High Tech listens. High Touch judges.

The technology does the listening. The standard it scores against comes from decades of real rooms, real cuts and real songwriters.

    STEP 1

Upload your song and tell its story

Upload an MP3, M4A or WAV, or submit lyrics only. A short chat asks your genre, what you were going for, and how you made it, including which parts came from AI tools.

    STEP 2

The AI listens to the recording

The system analyzes the actual audio: melody, hook, structure, production and performance, alongside your lyrics.

    STEP 3

You get scores and a plan

Six scored categories plus an Overall Score, timestamped notes that point to exact moments in the song, and specific next steps.

    STEP 4

Talk it through with your reviewer

Ask follow-up questions and get coaching on any point in the review. The first 10 messages are free on Deep Dive reviews and for Refinery members. On a Standard review, a 10-message session is 1 credit.

Six scores and an Overall Score

Every review scores the same six categories, so you know whether the problem is the hook, the second verse or the mix.

    Title

    Hook value and memorability.

    Top Line

    Your opening line and melody.

    Lyrics

    Flow, economy, imagery and craft.

    Arrangement

    Structure, dynamics and transitions.

    Production

Mix quality and sonic choices, or a roadmap for demos.

    Commercial Potential

    Market readiness and industry appeal.

Made it with Suno or Udio? Good.

AI-assisted songs get the same honest review as everything else. Tell us which parts are yours and which came from AI tools, and the feedback is calibrated to how the song was actually made.

The score answers the question every AI-assisted writer has: is this one worth refining, or should I move on to the next one?

Revise it, resubmit it, and the revision review compares every part against the last version. Refinery members whose songs reach 90+ become eligible for Updraft, where vetted publishers and sync supervisors listen and message writers directly.

Cheap enough to use on every draft

A traditional song critique costs $25 to $30. At that price you submit once, read it once and move on. Songs get better through revision, and revision only happens when feedback is cheap enough to use constantly.

Your first review is free. A Standard review is $1 and arrives in about an hour. A Deep Dive is $3, processes in about the length of your song, and includes the first 10 messages with your reviewer free. Purchased credits never expire. Refinery membership is $29.99 a month for 50 credits, about $0.60 a review, and adds the members-only Double Fire review. Membership credits do not roll over.

    The ears behind the AI

Keith Mohr, founder of Song Refiners

Song Refiners was built by Keith Mohr, a Nashville music industry veteran with more than 30 years in the business. He ran a recording studio where Halestorm recorded some of their earliest songs, built IndieHeaven for independent artists, and ran the Nashville Rising Song competition for nearly two decades.

The scoring rubric behind every review comes out of those years, not out of a model guessing what a good song sounds like. That is the difference between AI that flatters you and AI that helps you.

    AI song feedback questions

Can an AI really listen to my song?

Yes. Song Refiners analyzes the audio file you upload, not just your lyrics or a text description. That is how the review can point to exact moments in the song with timestamped notes.

Is this just ChatGPT with a music prompt?

No. ChatGPT works from text, so it cannot hear your mix. Song Refiners listens to the recording and scores it against a rubric built from more than 30 years in the music business by founder Keith Mohr, a Nashville industry veteran.

Will the same song get the same score twice?

Yes. The same audio, lyrics and details produce the same scores. When your score moves on a revision, it is because the song changed.

Does it work with Suno and Udio songs?

Yes. AI-assisted songs are welcome, in any genre. In the submission chat, tell us which parts are yours and which came from AI tools. That calibrates the review so the feedback fits how the song was made.

Will AI train on my music?

No. Your music is never used to train AI models. Your audio and lyrics are analyzed only to create your review, and you keep 100% ownership of your songs.

How much does AI song feedback cost?

Your first review is free with no credit card. After that, a Standard review is $1 and a Deep Dive is $3. Purchased credits never expire. Refinery membership is $29.99 a month for 50 credits, about $0.60 a review; membership credits do not roll over to the next month. See the FAQ for every policy detail.

How long does a review take?

A Standard review arrives in about an hour. Deep Dive, Double Fire and your free first review process in about the length of your song.

Every policy, from credits to ownership, is in the full FAQ.
